Parade.com Asks Dr. Green About Causes of Acne in the Vaginal Area

Parade Magazine interviewed Dr. Green today in the article “Vaginal Acne Is a Real Thing—and Yes, You Can Get Rid of It” where she was quoted as saying “Acne is a skin condition that commonly appears on the face, chest and back because there is a higher distribution of sebaceous [oily] follicles, but it can occur anywhere on the body where there is a build-up of sebum and bacteria.”

She talks about various acne types as well as how it differentiates from STDs, mentioning in the article that it can often be a result of in-grown hair, or sweat and that “it can take the form of blackheads, whiteheads and cysts.” In addition to that, Dr. Green looks at what potential treatments one can have and despite the temptation to do so, advises whatever you do, don’t pop it!
