Best Skincare Routine for Women Over 40, 50 & 60: Parade

Dr. Michele Green, was featured today in Parade magazine, talking about the best skincare routines that she follows – as well as recommendations for those over 40, 50 and 60 as changes occur. “A proper skincare routine is vital for minimizing the visible signs of aging, including fine lines, wrinkles, dull skin and even discoloration,” Dr. Green tells Parade.

She notes a 6-Step Daily Routine such as removing overnight build up with a gentle cleanser and using a high-quality vitamin C serum – which benefits all skin types. Applying sunscreen is also a must, not just for the summer months either but for all days.  Dr. Green also often hears common mistakes people over 50 make, for example – “a common mistake that women over 50 make is overusing products and making their skincare routine overly complicated. An effective skincare routine does not need to include a ton of steps; rather, a few simple steps with the right ingredients can provide the most benefit,” Dr. Green says.

Common options with her dermatology patients include monthly facials to maintain healthy, glowing skin such as Hydrafacials. But in all cases, skin changes as we age – so “this means what worked before may not work later on. Listen to your skin and keep it simple, you do not need a skincare routine that uses tons of products,” she says.
