Belotero Balance®

This Dermal Filler quickly integrates into your skin, filling in facial wrinkles.

As we age, the skin loses its youthful appearance because the production of collagen and elastin, which naturally supports our skin structures, starts to diminish. Over time, these foundations constructed on hyaluronic acid, commonly called HA, begin to disappear, resulting in fine lines and wrinkles. Dr. Michele Green is an expert in dermal fillers in her private New York office and incorporates Juvederm, Volbella, Restylane, Sculptra, Voluma, and many other fillers, to combine the best combination of fillers for your unique facial rejuvenation. Most of Dr. Green’s patients want to avoid plastic surgery, and turn to her for non-invasive cosmetic procedures to improve their skin and give them a younger looking complexion. BELOTERO BALANCE® dermal filler is an FDA approved hyaluronic acid injectable filler, manufactured by Merz, which Dr. Michele Green uses extensively in her boutique NYC office. Belotero Balance immediately integrates into your skin, filling in facial wrinkles, particularly vertical lip lines and under eye hollows. The result of Belotoro injections is a smoother, younger looking results, without surgery or any downtime.

The properties of Belotero Balance Dermal Filler

Only Belotero Balance is created using the proprietary Cohesive Polydensified Matrix (CPM) process which produces a smooth, flexible gel which blends into the natural structure of your skin and evenly fills in etched-in lines and wrinkles. Belotero Balance is made from hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in your skin, and decreases with age. Hyaluronic acid naturally adds volume, smooths out the skin surface, and immediately improves your skin’s appearance. Since Belotero”s properties bind instantly with your skin, it provides the perfect matrix for soft-tissue augmentation and rejuvenation.

Where to use Belotero ?

While Belotero is made of the same hyaluronic acid as some other dermal fillers, BELOTERO BALANCE® has unique properties which allow it to adapt within the skin for soft and even correction. The versatility of the product makes it strong enough to handle deep treatment areas such as nasolabial folds (the smile lines around the mouth, also called laugh lines) as well as more delicate areas such as vertical lip lines (thin lines that appear above the lip line, sometimes called smokers’ lines).

BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler may be used in the following treatment areas:

  • Smile lines, also called nasolabial folds, which run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Vertical lip lines, which form above the upper lip
  • Lips themselves
  • Marionette lines, which begin at the corners of the mouth and extend down toward the chin
  • Corners of the mouth, which can turn downward and give the look of a constant frown
  • Tear trough under eye area for hollows
  • Crow’s feet
  • Subtle lip augmentation
  • frown lines

What is the process of having Belotero injections?

Before you have any cosmetic injectables done by Dr. Green, you will have a formal consultation and discuss the areas of concern and how to best treat your unique situation. Photographs will be taken for your personal medical record and used to discuss which treatments or dermal fillers would be idea to address and enhance your cosmetic concerns.

If dermal fillers are the best option for you, we will apply a topical lidocaine cream to the treatment areas one hour before your injections to numb the area. Dr. Green may use a combination of injectables, including Belotero and/or Botox to correct fine lines and wrinkles. Belotero Balance is used for fine lines and wrinkles.  Belotero Intense is designed for deeper lines, severe wrinkles and severe lines.

One week before your dermal fillers, you should refrain from taking any blood thinners, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs  (nsaids) such as Advil, Motrin, and Alleve. No multivitamins, herbal supplements, or Fish oil for one week before your procedure to avoid bruising at the injection site.

Belotero Balance is injected into these fine lines and wrinkles with a fine-gauge needle, superficially  into the treatment area.

Immediately after your procedure, ice packs are applied to the area. It is best to avoid intense exercise, hot yoga, or saunas for 48 hours after injection to avoid further swelling or bruising.

How soon will I see results?

You will see the results of Belotero injections immediately upon injection. Belotero dermal filler plumps the skin and smooths the fine lines and wrinkles away. You will leave Dr. Green’s NYC’s office, with radiant, younger-looking skin right away.

Juvederm versus Belotero Balance

Each hyaluronic acid product or dermal filler is unique. Belotero is unique in that is was created to treat fine etched lines, such as those around the lips, as opposed to simply deeper creases, such as those around the nasolabial fold. Belotero rarely swells or looks puffy or lumpy, like some other dermal fillers can. The lack of swelling surrounding Belotero Balance is one of the reasons that it is so popular.

In addition, Belotero Balance does not cause the Tyndall effect, like other hyaluronic acid fillers can. The Tyndall effect is a phenomenon resulting in a bluish hue to the skin due to light passing through the clear filler beneath the skin and reflecting this color. This absence of the Tyndall effect allows Belotero Balance to be the perfect dermal filler for the under eye, tear trough area.

Juvederm, and in particular Juvederm Voluma is especially formulated to replace volume loss, in the malar area, chin, temples, and nasolabial fold (smile lines). Juvederm is more appropriate for more deeper and sever lines and wrinkles on the face. Juvederm is typically used as a lip filler for “Kardashian” lip augmentation.

Restylane vs. Belotero for fine line reduction

The Restylane family of facial fillers is manufactured by Galderma. All of the Restylane products are composed of hyaluronic acid, of various thickness. Restylane Lyft is the thickest dermal filler of the Restylane line and Restylane Silk is the thinnest. Belotero is superior to Restylane silk for treating fine lines since is produces little to no bruising, swelling, or Tyndall effect.

How much does Belotero cost?

The price of Belotero Balance injections will vary, based on the experience of the injector and the area of the country. In general, a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon is more expensive than a nurse or spa.

Who is a good candidate for Belotero Balance?

The best candidate for Belotero Balance is a healthy individual who has fine lines, around the mouth, under the eyes, around the smile lines, the lips, who wants to rejuvenate these facial areas.

Who should not be treated with Belotero?

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers should not be used with pregnant, breastfeeding, or having immunotherapies. Also if you are allergic to lidocaine, hyaluronic acid, or have an autoimmune disease.

Is Belotero Balance a good under eye dermal filler?

Yes, Belotero is particularly well suited for the delicate under eye area, since it is such a thin and light dermal filler. Since Belotero Balance does not produce the Tyndall effect, it is perfect for the tear trough and treat under eye hollows.

How to dissolve Belotero filler?

Since Belotero is a hyaluronic acid based filler, it can be easily dissolved with Hyaluronidase injections. Hyaluronidase dissolves all different types of hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers.

What can you expect after Belotero treatment?

BELOTERO BALANCE® makes an excellent wrinkle treatment for smile lines and folds because it provides soft correction for results that are even, smooth and immediate, integrates into your skin to deliver a natural level of correction and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and folds. BELOTERO BALANCE® is clinically proven to last up to 6 months or longer, and is often combined with other minimally invasive procedures, like BOTOX® Cosmetic injections for more comprehensive results.

How long does Belotero last?

Belotero Balance can last up to six months in duration in the treated area. The duration varies from patient to patient, but you can expect to have Belotero Balance injections twice a year for the best cosmetic results.
