NY Posts Talks With Dr. Green About Botox Immunity
With Botox injections continually on the rise, 6% year-on-year in 2023 according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons – some people are reporting a potential immunity after frequent usage. Dr. Green was featured today in “Botox use has become so frequent that youth-chasers are developing immunity to the injectable: Doctors” where she talks about how the effects of Botox are “typically lasting three to four months….some people may find that their Botox wears off sooner, which can happen if they develop a resistance to the treatment.” And in “extremely rare” occurrences, approx. 1.5% of patients develop immunity to the toxin.
“With repeated injections of the same neuromodulator, some patients may develop antibodies against the complexing protein added to the toxin. When this happens, patients can become resistant to the effects of the toxin, resulting in weaker and shorter-lasting results,” Dr. Green said. In such cases it may be worth changing it up to a different option such as Dysport or Xeomin to get better effects.
