In the article “How Often Should You Do Microneedling? + Other Microneedling Questions, Answered.”, Formulate answers the most common microneedling questions with the help of Dr. Green. Microneedling is the procedure of creating small and controlled injuries to the skin to boost the healing response. By doing this, it stimulates the collagen production and improves the appearance of the skin.

In terms of how often you should do a microneedling treatment, Dr. Green states “the frequency and the total number of microneedling treatments vary per individual depending on skin type, treatment method (PRP, RF, at-home, in-office), age, and desired results”. Those in their 20s are likely to need fewer sessions as their skin heals faster.

See here to read about how often you should do Microneedling and the second part in the series where they look at the question “Does Microneedling Hurt?” where Dr. Green talks about how “Microneedling is a minimally-invasive cosmetic treatment that is not painful but can be a little bit uncomfortable,” and that “some people describe it as similar to getting a tattoo, while others say it feels like a cat licking you or fine sandpaper being rubbed on the skin.”

And of course, last but not least – a common question is “cost” – Formulate also discussed that in How Much Does Microneedling Cost? Where Dr. Green notes that “FDA-cleared microneedling devices are only to be used by a healthcare provider with special training” and that overall one should expect to pay more at a licensed dermatologist than at a day spa.  It also depends what your goals are overall, some people will need more Microneedling sessions than others in order to achieve their goals.

Last but not least she also talks about Dermapen in Dermapen Facial 101 noting that while Dermapen is a good option, she wouldn’t automatically go for it over other automatic professional grade devices.  “Dermapen is a great option for microneedling treatments, as are other FDA-cleared microneedling devices, such as MicroPen EVO by Eclipse. Vivace Microneedling is also an excellent, quick, and pain-free option for skin tightening and improving skin texture and acne scars. It utilizes radiofrequency (RF) energy to stimulate collagen synthesis and tighten the skin, along with the benefits of collagen induction therapy.”
