Dr Green Talks About Eczema, Eczema Creams, Types & Treatment

What is the best type of cream to treat Eczema with? Readers Digest interviewed various dermatologists about different Eczema conditions. For light / mild eczema, such as small patches of inflammation on your body, moisturizer is the best eczema cream for you.

“Hydrating ingredients include lipids, ceramides, and, really, anything rich,” says Dr. Michele S. Green. She recommends Aquaphor Healing Ointment and Eucerin Eczema Relief for example, in addition to avoiding potential triggers, such as taking short warm showers or baths instead of super-hot ones, and washing clothes with laundry detergent that has no perfumes or dye. In the winter months, dry air can cause issues too, so using a humidifier in the house can reduce the risk.

She also discusses eyelid eczema – noting that “using an eye cream is one of the skin-care tips that dermatologists follow themselves” and in another Readers Digest article, discusses a particular type of eczema, Nummular Eczema which is also known as nummular dermatitis or discoid eczema.

In cases like these, Dr. Green recommends to apply moisturizer generously on the affected skin at least twice a day, preferably when skin is damp to lock in moisture, but also to avoid hot water or extended use, such as not going over 15 minutes bathing.
