It’s a common comparison, Body Wash or Soap Bar, what works best in the shower for you? Yahoo! Life reached out to Dr. Michele Green, to see what works for people. “Both are effective for cleansing the skin of dead skin cells, dirt, debris and other impurities” she mentions in the article, but that doesn’t mean it is a tie either.

“Body washes contain added chemical preservatives and moisturizers to inhibit microbial growth and promote hydration,” while “In contrast, bar soaps contain minimal ingredients, typically only the essential active ingredients in pure concentrations, and are more likely to strip the skin of its natural oils.” So it really depends on many factors such as what ingredients are in use. That said, for oily skin, a bar of soap often works well whereas a body wash can hydrate drier skin types.
