Singlecare asked various Dermatologists including Dr. Michele Green about the cause of acne in those using birth control.  Overall it depends on the method of birth control used though, for instance, some hormonal options can help reduce acne, while some Birth control injections, Hormonal intrauterine devices (IUDs), Subdermal Implants and Progestin pills can increase the risk of breakouts.
