Marci Robin from Refinery 29 asks various doctors and stylists about the best ways to take care of ones hair in “9 Things Women With Great Hair Color Always Do.”

Two key points raised by Dr. Michele Green involve taking vitamins (such as how Biotin, Vitamin B and C can improve texture) and avoiding heat styling. For example – “It’s important to moisturize your scalp if you frequently color your hair,” as well as using natural products to do so.

“Keeping your scalp healthy ensures that hair follicles are hydrated and minimizes breakage. If the scalp is dry or unhealthy, the hair will most likely be unhealthy, too,” she says. To do so, mimizing heat based styling and using protective styling products on hair before blow drying will help also.
