What Causes Dark Circles? Dr. Green Speaks With Live That Glow

Today in Live That Glow’s article titled “The 5 Main Culprits Behind Your Dark Circles (And How to Get Rid of Them)” – Dr. Green answered various questions about dark circles around the eyes.

Age, Stress & Lack of Sleep are common reasons but “for some, dark circles are an inherited trait passed down through genetics,” says Dr. Green.  However age is the most common factor, since “collagen and elastin are two proteins that maintain skin elasticity,” and “during the natural ageing process, the production of these proteins decreases and the skin begins to sag and thin.”

Hollowing can also occur in the under eye area, known as the “tear trough.”  In addition to that, those with skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis are prone too, “as these inflammatory conditions can deposit dark pigmentation around the eyes, especially when rubbed.”
