“Laughter is the best medicine” is a saying that most people would agree with. In order to produce a smile, a person engages approximately 17 facial muscles. So, if you are a happy person and are fortunate enough to laugh a lot, you may, over time, develop ‘laugh lines’, which extend from the bottom corners of your nose to the corners of your lips. People love to laugh, but are not so keen on having the laugh lines to show for it.
Introducing Juvederm Vollure XC
Enter newly approved filler Juvederm Vollure XC (Vollure) to the rescue. Vollure has been in use in Europe since 2013 under the name Juvederm Volift and has just been approved by the FDA in March 2017 to reduce the appearance of moderate to severe facial wrinkles.
What makes Vollure different from others that came before it?
Vollure is the first and only hyaluronic acid dermal filler for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, such as your smile lines or nasolabial area. Vollure is formulated with Allergan’s Vycross technology which blends different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, contributing it to the gel’s longevity. Our patients love the results from having Vollure injected and are very happy with the longevity of the product.
Vollure fills a much needed gap in the injectable market. Vollure has all of the same amazing properties of Juvederm but now with the new Vycross technology that it shares with both Volbella and Voluma, it allows for the correction of deeper wrinkles for 18 months. This longevity avoids frequent injections and the bruising or the “down-time” associated with any dermal filler injection. This is both a cost savings for patients which makes it a better value than some of the other fillers currently on the market.
In 2015 Americans were injected more than 6.6 million times with an injectable such as Botox, Dysport, Juvederm Voluma or Restylane Defyne (source: American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery). The choices for injectables and the technology continues to improve. The beauty of Vollure is that it is thick enough to fill deeper lines but malleable enough so that facial expression is not affected and the results are extremely natural. With both minimal swelling and bruising, it has a shorter recovery time than some other dermal fillers.
What else can be used with Juvederm Vollure?
Vollure can be combined during the same visit with other injectables such as Botox or Dysport, or Volbella for the lips and Voluma for the mid-face. Many patients who are getting ready for the Summer will want to combine the injections with lasers such as V-Beam for redness, Fraxel or Clear & Brilliant for pigmentation and wrinkles, or Thermage for skin tightening.
