How does CoolSculpting work?
CoolSculpting is based upon science that reveals that fat cells are more sensitive to cold than the overlying skin and surrounding tissues. Selected fat areas are pressed between two cooling plates (adaptors) for one hour and fat cell lipids literally freeze to death. The fat cells harmlessly break down and are reabsorbed by the body. This principle is called popsicle panniculitis, in which targeted fat is frozen and metabolized, then excreted slowly, gently, and painlessly over several months. In this video here, Dr. Green explains the CoolSculpting process.

Design your CoolSculpting treatment plan.
Dr Green will help you design a treatment plan just right for your body. Come into the office to discuss areas you’d like to target – the abdomen, the thighs, the buttocks, the love handles, the back or the bra area – and when you return for your CoolSculpting treatment, these areas will be marked and measured and the adapter applied.
What is a CoolSculpting adaptor and how does it work?
The adaptor is a handheld attachment connected to the CoolSculpting machine. Adaptors applied to one or more treatment areas require about an hour, sometimes 90 minutes, to freeze the fat. During the treatment and the two-week to three-month period afterward as the CoolSculpting fat-reduction process progresses, your experience will be pain free and you can return to work and your everyday activities right away.
What happens during a CoolSculpting treatment?
The CoolSculpting device is positioned on selected areas of your body and controlled cooling is applied. The first four or five minutes, you’ll feel some tugging, which is just the suction of the machine. Within five minutes the area will become completely frozen and any discomfort should be gone. Once the area is frozen you won’t feel a thing. Meanwhile, relax and read, check your email, or take a nap.
Does CoolSculpting really work?
This gentle and effective CoolSculpting treatment safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to target the fat cells underneath the skin. Treated fat cells become crystallized (frozen). Over time, your body naturally processes the fat from these dead cells, and leaves a more sculpted you.
Do the results of CoolSculpting really last?
The CoolSculpting procedure contours the body by safely and effectively freezing unwanted fat, without surgery or downtime. Unlike the liposuction process, fat is not re-distributed to other parts of the body.
What’s the difference between CoolSculpting and liposuction?
After targeted cells are frozen, CoolSculpting treats fat gently by the natural processes of your own body; while Liposuction is an invasive process that causes significant bruising, and leaves behind many fat cells that are then redistributed to other parts of your body.
