Hum Nutrition featured Dr. Green today in an article about Butt Acne, where Dr. Green explains that “the clogged pore triggers inflammation, which leads to whiteheads, blackheads, pustules, nodules, and cysts,” and while this can occur on any body part with sebaceous follicles, there’s a high concentration of them in areas such as the butt.
But, it is also important to know that butt acne might not actually be acne to begin with. “People with breakouts on the buttocks are typically experiencing folliculitis,” Dr. Green clarifies in the article. Sweat can cause build up and inflamed bumps that resemble pimples but aren’t quite that. And while hormones and generics can be a cause – butt acne can also be due to factors such as tight clothing, such as leggings, sedentary lifestyles, hygienic issues and improper hair removal techniques.
