Eyebrow Growth Serums

From thin to thick, shaved, grown, carved or angular and more, eyebrow trends have changed over the years.  Dr. Green talks about how to make eyebrows thicker and regrow them in Glamour magazine today, whether OTC options or prescription options like Latisse for hair growth which can take up to 4 months to see a difference.

Overall it depends on the cause – “Multiple different things, such as over-plucking, waxing, age, or other medical conditions, can cause hair loss and thinning of the eyebrows,” says Dr. Green.  Hair growth serum can work in the long run, but the only immediate solution is to fill in your brows with an eyebrow pencil or powder. “Hair growth takes time, and that includes the eyebrows, ” says Dr. Green in the article, where she also recommends being diligent and consistent with your application routine in order to see the best results.

Treating Greasy Hair & How Often to Wash Your Hair: Glamour

Two very common “hair” questions are how often one should wash their hair, as well as how to treat and prevent greasy hair buildup. In “How Often Should You Wash Your Hair? Experts Set the Record Straight” answers vary but Dr. Green notes that “the truth is there is no one answer to how often you should wash your hair,” all experts agree though that “Over-washing your hair can strip the hair follicles of their natural oils and signal to the body to produce more oil on the scalp, but under-washing your hair can lead to a buildup of grease, sweat, and product on your strands. Finding the balance between the two is crucial to having healthy hair follicles and strands.”

So how often? It ranges from several times a week down to waiting to the simple old fashioned rule of just when it gets dirty. However, there is a right way to do it. “When shampooing, you should focus on massaging the scalp to prevent product buildup, excess oil, and dirt from clogging hair follicles,” says Dr. Green to Glamour.com.

She is also featured in “10 Ways to Treat and Prevent Greasy Hair, According to Experts” where she talks about the most common cause of greasy hair – an overproduction of sebum and oil. “Greasy hair is caused by overactivity from the sebaceous glands on the scalp,” Michele Green, MD, board-certified cosmetic dermatologist in New York City, tells Glamour. “Typically the oil, or sebum, from these glands moisturizes your hair follicles and protects them from infection, but an excessive production of oil on the scalp can weigh hair down and lead to the appearance of greasy hair.”  More info and quotes also in this article: at “5 Best Shampoos for Postpartum Hair Loss, According to Derms”

Glamour Magazine Talks To Dr. Green About Hair Growth & PRP

Glamour.com asked Dr. Green about each of these along with minoxidil and other methods/options for patients depending on the situation. One option is the HydraFacial Keravive Scalp Treatment, for which “the treatment extracts impurities, dirt, and dead skin cells from the scalp while stimulating circulation and delivering oxygen and essential nutrients to the scalp,” she says. “The next step of the treatment is to replenish the scalp with the HydraFacial Peptide Complex Solution, which is rich in hyaluronic acid and antioxidants. The last step requires using the HydraFacial Keravive Complex Spray daily to nourish the scalp and follicles for long-lasting results.”

She also talks about the popular option of Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for hair growth. In the article, she mentions that “PRP is rich in growth factors and proteins that stimulate tissue healing and regeneration in inactive hair follicles,” and as this procedure has minimal to no downtime, maintenance is easier than many other procedures.

How to Stop Sweating So Much, According to Dermatologists

Here she notes that “sweat is a normal reaction by our body to excrete toxins and regulate optimal body temperature in situations such as high heat, intense exercising, or acute stress,” and that “the sweat glands are signaled to turn off once the body is removed from the situation. This signal never occurs for some individuals, and the sweat glands continue to produce sweat.”

There are many options out there for treating excess sweat, known also as Hyperhidrosis, such as Botox, as well as non-invasive options such as Brella. “Brella is a a new noninvasive treatment that uses alkali thermolysis (TAT) technology to target hyperhidrosis,” she says in the article at Glamour. “The Brella sodium patch is applied to the underarms, relying on localized heat energy to decrease sweat production.”

Is Beef Tallow good for your skin?

Better yet, what is Beef Tallow – for those that don’t know – it is a rendered form of beef fat, made by slowly heating beef fat until it melts and turns into a liquid. The liquid is then strained to remove any impurities, and the resulting product is beef tallow. It also is a trending use of skin care, but this is nothing new.

“Beef tallow has been used for skin care for centuries, when the standard practice was to use the whole animal and plant-derived ingredients weren’t readily available,” says Dr. Michele Green in Glamour magazine this week. But, while beef tallow contains properties beneficial to the skin, it also comes with a handful of valid concerns, “the safety and efficacy of tallow for skin care will require further clinical research,” and is not approved by the FDA.  This is especially the case when factory-farmed cattle are often given antibiotics or steroids and are raised in harsh conditions too, as Dr. Green notes in the article.

Lip Injections: 9 Things I Wish I’d Known Before Filler

Perrie Samotin from Glamour magazine talks about her previous lip injections and what she wanted to achieve. From this Dr. Michele Green helped her decide on Juvederm, but also provided some advice on how to prep for lip filler and what to know about it. For instance, Dr. Green suggests refraining from aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, fish oil, multivitamins, and vitamin E for about a week before your appointment, since these ingredients can act as a blood-thinner and contribute to post-injection bruising.

And while you should not try to exactly match a celebrity picture, you should know what type of lips you want. For example, Dr. Green says a youthful, pillowy, voluminous look is best achieved with Juvederm, while she uses Restylane for a “I got my lips a little fuller but no one really will know” vibe, thanks to its smaller particles.

Find out more about the discussion and the cost of lip injections, along with how long it lasts (spoiler alert: in most cases, it will last around six months to a year) and what to look out for after. Read the full article at https://www.glamour.com/story/lip-injections-cost-before-after
