Over time as a person ages, plumpness and fullness in the face tends to fade, while wrinkles and lines start to appear. This is the natural effect of aging, but today there are a wide range of treatments available to reduce the overall appearance of this.
A new facial filler called Juvéderm Vollure® is a treatment that has been FDA approved in March 2017 and is now available. Prior to 2017, the treatment was available overseas in countries such as the United Kingdom, and is branded under the name “Juvéderm Volift®” – which is primarily used for smoothing nasolabial folds (commonly known as “smile lines” or “laugh lines”) that run from the side of the nose to the corners of one’s mouth.

What is Juvederm Vollure?
Juvederm Vollure is a hyaluronic acid filler that is injected into the skin to improve lines and wrinkles and to give the skin the look of having more overall volume. This filler is classed as being a “medium filler,” which makes it an excellent product for wrinkles and folds. Currently Juvederm Vollure/ Juvederm Volift is being used in the mid-face region, around the mouth and cheeks, particularly the aforementioned nasolabial folds.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that naturally occurs in the body. Injections are made into wrinkles, folds and lines to add fullness to the area and this effectively helps increase the moisture content of the skin and “plump” up the skin, which in turn reduces the appearance of the wrinkles. Facial fillers which are hyaluronic acid based have been on the market for years now, including other Juvederm products such as Juvederm Voluma & Juvederm Volbella.
Now that Juvederm Vollure is available in the USA, this procedure will provide us with another special filler that we can use to customize a treatment to an individual’s specific needs.
Juvederm Vollure Advantages
One of the advantages of Juvederm Vollure is that it features a different type of cross-linking, which slows the breakdown of the filler within in the skin, which means that it will last longer than current hyaluronic acid fillers. Based on initial tests and results in Europe, Juvederm Vollure can last up to 12 to 15 months.
Juvederm Vollure will become a popular treatment in the USA, since it is simple to inject and has minimal swelling and bruising. Juvederm Vollure also contains lidocaine, which makes the injection relatively pain free. Juvederm Vollure provides quick, lasting results which will become very popular in facial rejuvenation and “liquid facelifts” and are longer lasting than most competitive fillers.
