How Long Do Juvéderm Lip Fillers Last?

Juvéderm offers a wide range of injectable treatment options that can be customized to your individual needs. They are designed to give you a smoother appearance, whether you want subtle volume or a little extra volume. Juvéderm fillers are FDA approved, nonsurgical treatments that provide instant and long-lasting results while giving you a natural look. These type of fillers are made from a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally-occurring sugar found in your body.

Understanding The Different Types of Lip Fillers

Juvéderm has two unique fillers for lip augmentation – whether you want a plumper appearance or subtle volume. These HA fillers are the longest-lasting fillers for the lip area – lasting up to 1 year. Juvéderm Ultra XC gives you plumper natural-looking lips and enhances lip fullness. Juvéderm Volbella adds volume for a more subtle plump and it’s also used to soften the appearance of vertical lip lines. Unwanted lines such as these are often caused by factors such as sun exposure or repeated muscle movements. Juvéderm is the first and only filler proven to increase lip fullness and soften lip lines.

If you’re looking to add volume to your lips, to create a pout or reverse the signs of aging, these lip injections can help. For many this is a preferred option when compared to lip implants that require an invasive cosmetic procedure by a plastic surgeon.

Dermal Filler Treatments For Reversing The Signs of Aging

When you’re young, cheeks are full and round. However, as you age: your cheek area loses its collagen and youthful shape, they begin to flatten, and your skin may start to sag. Juvéderm Voluma XC is designed to add volume to lift your cheeks, giving you a smoother, natural-looking contour and a more youthful look. This is the longest-lasting HA filler available – clinically proven to last up to 2 years.

Over time, your skin loses elasticity. This natural process, plus genetics and environmental factors like sun exposure, can cause moderate to severe lines and folds to form around areas of the face, such as the nose and mouth. Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC and Juvéderm Ultra XC can help fill these fine lines and give you natural-looking results that last.

When comparing Juvéderm Ultra Plus vs. Ultra, there are both similarities and differences.  For instance, both are HA fillers and are used for the treatment of facial lines and wrinkles, however Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a thicker more viscous substance than Juvederm Ultra. Therefore, Ultra Plus XC can provide more dramatic results in areas with deeper lines and hollows in the skin such as the nasal labial folds. Juvederm Ultra XC is more appropriate for superficial locations and finer lines and wrinkles.

How to Prepare For A Lip Filler Appointment

Do not take Aspirin, Aspirin containing products, blood thinners like Coumadin, Ibuprofen, fish oil, Aleve, Motrin, multivitamins, and Vitamin E at least 1-2 weeks before your scheduled injection treatment. These medications can lead to bleeding and bruising. Arnika pills are sometimes recommended to take at least 1 week prior to your appointment; these pills help reduce bruising – as it’s one of the most common side effects of injections, however each case is different and all options should be discussed with your dermatologist first. Recently we have seen and heard about botched lip filler injections, due to a non professional applying the treatment.  Always make sure your dermatologist is board certified and experienced in lip fillers / lip enhancement treatments.
