Dermatology Experts Asked About Filler Migration: Aedit

Filler Migration has been more popular on social media recently as some people have noticed that fillers that they thought had dissolved instead had lumps, unevenness, or puffiness.  Dr. Green discussed this with Aedit in “Filler Migration: Should You Be Worried? Experts Weigh In” and mentions that filler migration can occur anywhere, but it most commonly presents itself in areas with thin skin, like the lips and tear troughs (under the eyes).

She also talks about what may cause it, such as overfilling, or using the wrong filler, saying that “too much filler in an area can cause a pressure imbalance, resulting in the filler migrating towards adjacent tissues. Inadequate injection techniques, such as injecting too close to the surface or using excessive pressure, can also lead to filler migration. Additionally, there are many different types of fillers on the market, all with varying concentrations and formulations. Using a filler that is not suited for the injected area can result in filler displacement.”

In most cases, fillers can last anywhere between 6 and 24 months depending on the filler and the person too such as their metabolism or lifestyle being a factor.
