Are Baking Soda Baths Good for Your Skin?
This question was discussed with various local dermatologists in the Oprah Magazine article “10 Benefits of Taking a Bathing Soda Bath” today by Brigitt Earley. Dr. Michele Green talks about how Baking Soda can help soothe hives and the itchy skin caused by it, as well as be used for reducing odor in the fridge or laundry area.
It works for a wide range of people, even babies who might have diaper rash issue, where baking soda can help fight the bacteria and fungus that causes itch and discomfort. That said, not everyone can use it – for example, if pregnant, nursing, diabetic, or have open wounds, skin infection, or abrasions, then you should not take these types of baths.
