Dr. Green Discusses POC Cancer Mortality Rates With HealthCentral
HealthCentral asks “Do POC really have higher skin cancer mortality rates?” and while white people make up the majority of skin cancers, “the five-year survival rate after a skin cancer diagnosis is just 65% for POC versus 91% for white people”. Dr. Green weighs in and notes “the myth that darker skin tones cannot develop skin cancer is part of the reasons why skin cancers go unseen until later stages in [POC]”.
