NCOA.org Talks with Dr. Green About Hair Loss Treatment Options

NCOA.org (National Council On Aging), discussed androgenetic alopecia along with other hair loss types and treatment options in “Best Hair Loss Treatments for Women in 2025, Researched and Tested.” In this article, Dr. Green outlines how Minoxidil, Finasteride, PRP (Platelet-rich plasma), Spironolactone, and Contraceptives can affect hair in various ways.

“Like male pattern baldness, female pattern baldness is also thought to result from imbalances in androgen hormones,” Dr. Green explained. “There may also be a genetic component to this type of hair loss.” She also talks about how “Telogen effluvium is often temporary and can be caused by factors like emotional or psychological stress, diet, pregnancy, illness, surgery, hormone changes, and even some medications. The condition will resolve without treatment.”
