Finding the Right Moisturizer for Rosacea: Byrdie: Aug 2025

Byrdie presented the “The 16 Best Moisturizers for Rosacea, Tested & Reviewed” with its recap of all the top products and what to look for in a moisturizer for Rosacea. This included various quotes from Dr. Green such as finding common skin barrier-supporting ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides.

“Hyaluronic acid and glycerin are two humectants that pull water from the environment to the skin’s surface,” says Dr. Green in the article, noting how “Ceramides, squalane, and niacinamide are emollients that soften the skin and repair the skin’s natural moisture barrier.” In addition to that, she also talks about how “Occlusives protect the skin barrier by creating a barrier between the skin and the environment.”

One should also look to avoid scented products and find the right texture for their skin.  Also look for a mix of soothing ingredients.  Many creams are formulated with green tea, colloidal oats, aloe vera, and rose water for example. “Colloidal oat is a soothing ingredient that reduces redness and inflammation while also locking moisture into the skin,” says Dr. Green. “Green tea is an excellent addition due to its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Aloe vera works to moisturize, reduce inflammation, and calm while rose water also contains strong anti-inflammatory properties to reduce red and cool irritated skin.”

Does Sunscreen Prevent You From Tanning? June 2022

Byrdie.com asked top dermatologists including Dr. Michele Green who notes that “sunscreen works by blocking and absorbing harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays that would otherwise be absorbed by your skin, causing skin damage like sunburns and potentially skin cancer.” however, does not mean it will always work, for instance it can expire over time “Sunscreens usually have an expiration date, and once that expiration date has passed, the sunscreen begins to break down and may no longer be as protective against the sun as it was before,” she says. “In addition, sunscreen needs to be stored in a cool, dry place. When sunscreen is stored at high temperatures, the sunscreen becomes less stable and eventually starts degrading.”

She is also featured in article about the correct usage of various skincare products on “The Correct Amount of Skincare Product to Use, According to Derms” where she mentions to the Byrdie team that “the right amount of toner should effectively be used for ‘problem areas’ such as the T-Zone.” If you have dry or combination skin, however, she says that you may not need to use as much toner, as it could further dry out your skin.”
